ESOXX34	TI's profit falls, but outlook beats expectations Reuters EE Times (07/20/2009 5:23 PM EDT) NEW YORK—Texas Instruments Inc. reported a 56 percent drop in quarterly profit as chip demand fell along with sales of cellphones and other electronics, but it issued current-quarter forecasts that topped expectations. Chief Financial Officer Kevin March said the economy may not have hit bottom yet although it was close. "End demand is still low in relation to where it was six to 12 months ago. We need to be prepared for slow to no growth for a while," March said in an interview. Shares of TI fell about 1 percent in extended trading. The developer of chips for cellphones and industrial equipment posted a second-quarter net profit of $260 million, or 20 cents per share, compared with $588 million, or 44 cents a share, in the same quarter a year ago. Profit excluding restructuring costs was 25 cents per share, beating analysts' average forecast of 23 cents, according to Reuters Estimates. Revenue fell 27 percent to $2.46 billion, close to the average Wall Street forecast of $2.42 billion. The company, which competes with Qualcomm Inc. in the wireless chip market, forecast third-quarter earnings per share of 29 cents to 39 cents, including 1 cent in restructuring charges, on revenue of $2.5 billion to $2.8 billion. That was better than analysts' average forecast for earnings, excluding restructuring charges, of 28 cents on revenue of $2.53 billion, according to Reuters Estimates. TI shares fell to $23.35 following the results, after closing up 2.6 percent at $23.61 on the New York Stock Exchange.

Downgrades: ASML, PM, MOT Thursday, July 16, 1:54 PM ET Shares of semiconductor manufacturer ASML Holdings (ASML) received a downgrade this morning from Piper Jaffray, as the firm lowered its rating from Overweight to Neutral. Their analysts believe that Intel's (INTC) good news has driven the entire sector considerably higher and not much more can be expected in the near term. With the downgrade, the firm set a price target of $24 per share.

Massaal taxaties ASML bijgesteld Donderdag 16 juli 2009 De tweedekwartaalresultaten die chipmachinefabrikant ASML afgelopen woensdag presenteerde waren voor veel analisten beter dan verwacht. Mede hierdoor zijn er de afgelopen dagen relatief veel wijzigingen voor het aandeel doorgevoerd. De consensus is hierdoor verbeterd en analisten verwachten nu een beter rendement van het aandeel. 15 juli Analiste Margarita Shevtsova van Keijser Capital stelt in haar researchrapport van 15 juli dat ASML goede resultaten over het tweede kwartaal heeft gepresenteerd. Wat volgens de analiste echter nog belangrijker is, is dat het concern optimistisch is en suggereert dat ASML in het derde kwartaal van dit jaar alweer op het normale niveau kan terug zijn, al wordt dit pas verwacht voor het vierde kwartaal van 2009. Dit gecombineerd met het draaiende sentiment in de industrie alsmede het positieve nieuws vanuit de industrie zoals dat van Intel, zouden volgens Shevtsova moeten lijden tot een verdere stijging van de koers van ASML. De analiste heeft mede daarom het advies verhoogd van hold naar buy en het koersdoel verhoogd van 13 euro naar 20 euro. 16 juli De analisten van Deutsche Bank vonden de tweedekwartaalresultaten van ASML beter dan verwacht. Daarnaast wijzen de analisten op de toenemende vraag naar geheugenchips. Mede daarom hebben de analisten het koersdoel voor het aandeel verhoogd tot 19 euro. Het advies blijft gehandhaafd op kopen. De analisten van UBS hebben het koersdoel voor ASML licht opwaarts bijgesteld van 19,60 euro naar 20 euro. Volgens de analisten zal ASML in staat zijn marktaandeel te winnen, kosten beter te beheersen en eventueel zijn aandeleninkoop te hervatten. Hierdoor zal de winst per aandeel groeien, aldus zakenbank. Het buy-advies blijft door de analisten gehandhaafd. De analisten van Nomura Securities stellen in hun researchrapport dat de kwartaalresultaten van ASML aantonen dat de markt voor lithografie aan het stabiliseren is en dat het bedrijf erin is geslaagd een stevige kostenreductie door te voeren. Mede daarom hebben de analisten het koersdoel verhoogd tot 19 euro, waarbij zij het neutral-advies blijven handhaven. De beter dan verwachte kwartaalcijfers heeft de analisten van Credit Suisse doen besluiten het koersdoel voor ASML opwaarts bij te stellen met 2 euro tot 18 euro. Volgens de analisten zal het orderboek in de komende kwartalen verder worden gevuld. De analisten verwachten 30-35 orders voor immersion-systemen in de volgende vier kwartalen. Tot slot stellen de analisten dat ASML het enige concern in de sector zal zijn die zijn marge in de komende cyclus zal kunnen vergroten. Het koopadvies blijft door de analisten gehandhaafd. Naast de hiervoor genoemde zakenbanken hebben de analisten van Nataxis hun koersdoel verhoogd van 11,50 euro en hebben heeft instituut Kepler Research zijn koersdoel opwaarts bijgesteld van 15 euro naar 18 euro. Sentiment In de afgelopen dagen hebben dus in totaal 7 instituten hun taxaties voor het aandeel gewijzigd. De gewijzigde koersdoelen liggen dicht bij elkaar, bijna allemaal rond de 19 euro. Uitbijter is het koersdoel van de analisten van Nataxis van 13 euro. Het gemiddeld koersdoel van deze adviezen is 18,14 euro, wat een verwacht rendement oplevert van 9,76%. Het gemiddeld koersdoel van alle afgegeven koersdoel voor ASML bedraagt 15,49 euro, wat een verwacht rendement oplevert van -6,26%. Dit wil dus zeggen dat het sentiment voor het aandeel aan het verbeteren is. Voor het aandeel staan op dit moment 15 koop-, 14 houd- en 9 verkoopadviezen uit, waardoor de consensus voor het aandeel licht positief is.

ESOXX34	Goedemiddag, Rob Koenders van Harmony (een van de Goeroes van DFT), is zeer enthousiast over de “Golden Cross” van de AEX, ( De bevestiging van het nieuwe gegenereerde koopsignaal door de realisatie van het Golden Cross. Dat dit niet specifiek voor de korte termijn geldt, is wel duidelijk als je naar ASML kijkt. Bij ASML gebeurde dit op 30 april, maar heeft tot nu toe weinig effect gehad. De slotkoers op die dag was 15.56 en tot nog toe is er sindsdien max. 66 cent in de slotkoersen bijgekomen en max. 1.91 euro vanaf gegaan. Pas nu zitten we weer op het niveau van 30 april.

ESOXX34	Intel pushes 193-nm litho down to 15-nm Mark LaPedus (06/19/2009 2:53 AM EDT) URL: http://www.eetimes.com/showArticle. jhtml?articleID=218100243 MOUNTAIN VEIW, Calif. -- In a possible breakthrough, Intel Corp. claims that it has pushed 193-nm immersion lithography down to 15-nm--at least in the lab. The disclosure is further evidence that 193-nm immersion -- with some form of a double-patterning technique -- can scale much further than previously thought. It also means that extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography could get pushed out--again. So far, EUV has demonstrated the ability to print images down to 24-nm or so. The industry hopes to insert EUV at the 16-nm node. Today, Intel is using ''dry'' 193-nm lithography for production at the 45-nm node. For the company's 32-nm process, which will go into production by year's end, the chip giant plans to use its first immersion tools. As reported, it plans to use 193-nm immersion scanners from one vendor: Nikon Corp. In the practical logic world, today's 193-nm immersion scanners in a single exposure environment is expected to hit the wall at 35-nm, said Mike Mayberry, vice president of the Technology and Manufacturing Group and director of Components Research at Intel. At that point, the technology begins to ''fall off the cliff,'' Mayberry told EE Times at the company's annual Research@Intel Day here. Like the 45-nm node, Intel plans to implement a form of phase-shift mask technology. That technology, which was described as crossbar patterns, will also enable its 32-nm designs. Then, at the 22-nm node, Intel is planning to insert 193-nm immersion with a double-patterning scheme. The company is also talking about using computation lithography. In any case, there are various double-patterning schemes vying for dominance in the market. The major types include litho-etch-litho-etch, litho-freeze-litho-etch, and the sidewall spacer approach, also called SADP. Intel may -- or may not -- use multiple double-patterning technologies. ''It depends on the layer,'' Mayberry said. He said that Intel has pushed 193-nm immersion with double-patterning down to 15-nm. This is still in the R&D phase; the scanners have only been able to print lines and spaces--and not actual chip features. Instead of 193-nm immersion, Intel would rather use EUV for the 16-nm node. At this point, EUV is still not ready for prime time, as the alpha tools can only print lines and spaces ''down to 24-nm,'' he said. As previously reported, EUV suffers from the lack of power sources, resists and defect free masks. Hynix, IMEC, Intel, Samsung, Toshiba and possibly TSMC are the initial customers for ASML Holding NV's ''pre-production'' EUV lithography tool, according to an analyst. Intel is also working with Nikon in EUV. Nikon is building a tool within its headquarters in Japan. Intel will have access to that system. Another entity, IBM Corp.'s ''fab club,'' plans to extend 193-nm immersion and move towards what they call ''computational scaling'' technology for the 22-nm node and perhaps beyond. Current optical lithography is expected to hit the wall at the 32-nm node.
